Maribyrnong Civic Centre
The Maribyrnong Civic Centre underwent an exciting multi-million-dollar redevelopment that beautifully blended the past with the future. The historic Footscray Town Hall, which had stood for 80 years, was renovated while a brand-new community park and a sleek, modern administrative building were constructed.
The renovations prioritised the conservation of the Town Hall, ensuring its heritage was preserved in accordance with Heritage Victoria’s standards. Meanwhile, the old office and Community Wellbeing buildings were demolished, making way for a state-of-the-art, six-star Green Star building.
The design elegantly connected historical elements with modern facilities. A new forum space linked the old and new buildings, featuring an entrance off Hyde Street that led to community meeting spaces and the new park.
Gerflor was sought after to install 350m2 of Premium Compact, that features a Protecsol® 2 surface treatment for a matte appearance. Premium is designed for high-traffic applications and has excellent scratch and abrasion resistance. The product is also environmentally friendly, with up to 55% recycled content and 100% recyclability, contributing to the Green Star building requirements.
